Temple pig stench puts noses out of joint | Bangkok Post: news

About 200 pigs raised at a temple in Samut Prakan will be relocated to a shelter of the Nan Provincial Livestock Office this week, following complaints about the animals' smell. Authorities are set to relocate the pigs raised at Wat King Kaew in tambon Racha Thewa in Bang Phli district after locals cried foul about the smell of pig excrement at the temple. The Samut Prakan Provincial Office of Buddhism, provincial livestock authorities, health officials, Racha Thewa tambon administration organisation (TAO), a local kamnan and a village headman surveyed the temple on Friday. Provincial livestock officials then contacted their peers in the northern province of Nan to relocate the pigs there. The TAO's firetrucks were also deployed to hose down the pig enclosures, with officials using detergents to give them a final clean.
